Learn What Not to Put Down Your Drain

You must know what should not be put down your drain. The kitchen drain will get clogged easily. By washing liquid the grease will be removed but this isn’t effective for fat. When you pour fat down the kitchen sink, it will sit at the side of your pipes and collect bits of food and debris. Eventually, this causes drain clogging.

To remove fat and oil from pans use a paper towel before washing them. Avoid pouring fat and grease down your drain, also don’t put food bits and coffee grounds down the holes as it will lead to blockages.

Avoid Chemical Drain Cleaning Products

Though chemical drain cleaning products wash out the clogs, it won’t work effectively for a long run. Many of the chemical products are extremely corrosive due to their harsh chemicals. It can even burn the pipes. Damaged pipes can result in leaks and  bursts.

Clean the Drains Often

Even if you don’t put the food waste, there are some other reasons why drains become slow and clogged. So it’s good to thoroughly clean and clear your drains once in a while.

Use drain cleaning solutions and detergents. There are a lot of home remedies for cleaning like table salt, vinegar and baking soda, so make use of it.

Put 1 tablespoon of table salt into your bathroom/kitchen drains. Then allow it to rest for a while, then pour at least 0.25 cups of white vinegar. Let the solution sit for around 60 minutes to clear out any clogs.

Be Careful About What You Flush Down the Toilet

Never flush sanitary products down the drain! These products may block the pipe down the line in your plumbing system. Throw the waste in your bathroom bin. Flushing excessive amounts of toilet paper can also build up to cause a troublesome clog.
